Dr. Loren Dobbs - Experienced and Supportive Psychologist
Greetings and thank you for taking the time to visit my site. I am a competent and highly effective psychologist who has been in practice for over 18 years. My view of mental health is humanistic and mindfulness-based. My philosophy is that we are capable of improvement at any stage in life. I offer supportive therapy using cognitive behavioral therapy techniques.
I believe we are capable of improvement at every stage in life. If we develop positively, we experience less distress, make better decisions, and achieve more satisfaction. We also become better equipped to tackle new problems that come our way.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Cognitive behavioral therapy has shown to be an effective treatment for most common issues involving anxiety and depression. CBT addresses how distress is linked to faulty perceptions and dysfunctional thinking. We often become prisoners of our own thoughts. We then worsen situations by trying to solve our problems ineffectively, and in turn, cause more problems. This creates a difficult cycle. If this seems familiar, then you might be a good candidate for this type of therapy.
Mindfulness is an emphasis on self-awareness and in achieving more flow or satisfaction in our lives. This is consistent with the Eastern and spiritual notions of higher consciousness. We learn to center ourselves, focus on our reactions, and find adaptive ways to handle challenges. Increasing mindfulness improves our empathy and our relationships.
It is important that you feel comfortable with your therapist and understand the treatment approach. Please call (332) 333-1368 to make an appointment. There is no charge for the initial phone consultation. If it is determined we are not the right fit, I will happily recommend other resources.
